DOES THE LASIK OPERATION PAIN THE PATIENT?
Since the eye is completely numb buring the lasik operation, patient feels high comfort. Because LASIK involves a very short period of time for recovery, very little discomfort occurs. Some patients feel little eye strain and dryness after the operation.

CAN I SEE OR FEEL THE TREATMENT AS IT IS BEING PERFORMED?
Eye drop anesthesia is instilled directly onto the eye prior to all refractive surgery procedures. The surgeon prevents blinking of the eyes by settling the lid opener on the eyelids. Since the laser beam cannot be seen, the patient is required to keep looking at the red light. Sound of the laser equitment is very like the sound of lighting flints.

IS THAT POSSIBLE TO BE TREATED ON BOTH EYES IN A SINGLE SESSION?
Yes. In order to quicken the recovery process, lots of patients are treated on both eyes in a single session.

IS LASIK OPERATION RIGHT FOR ME? HOW DO I KNOW THAT I AM A RIGHT CANDIDATE?
Being over 18 years of age and having healthy kornea are the most important criteria for LASIK treatment. If the patient has an illness requiring medical treatment or in case of significant changes on recent prescriptions, the patient may not be a right candidate for LASIK operation. WHAT IS THE CHECK-UP PERIOD NEEDED AFTER THE OPERATION?
The patient is asked to return to the hospital for two check-ups: the first one is on the day after surgery and the second one is one month later. At those visits, doctor checks the vision, and monitor how the eyes are recovering.

DO I NEED TO LEAVE MY CONTACT LENSES PRIOR TO LASIK OPERATION?
Soft lenses must be leaved 1 week before the operation. This period extends to 4 weeks in case of using hard or gas permiable hard lenses.

WHAT SHOULD I DO & SHOULD NOT DO TO TAKE CARE OF MY EYES AFTER THE OPERATION?
Most patients feel little discomfort right after the operation. Those patients are advised to sleep in order to help healing of the eyes. The day after the surgery, the patient can get back to his/her daily life. In order to help healing of the eyes a few restrictions are put:
" No knuckle-rubbing eye rub for three weeks.
" No eye make-up for one week.
" No swimming for one swimming.
Eye protection is recommended for sports where there is a risk of contacting with the eyes.

WILL I NEED GLASSES OR CONTACT LENSES AFTER THE LASIK OPERATION?
The goal of LASIK operation is to reduce dependence on glasses and/or contact lenses, but seldom LASIK patients may benefit from reading glasses or distance glasses when they desire perfect near or distance vision. Tha patients over 40 years of age may need to use reading glasses after the surgery.

WHEN CAN I DRIVE AFTER THE LASIK TREATMENT?
You should not drive the day of the treatment. You may drive on next day if you feel confident that your visual acuity and eye comfort allow you to drive safely.
